30 Years in Luxury: From LinkedIn Posts to Official Consultancy

Alright, let’s get one thing straight from the start: I’ve always been that person who’s a bit too honest, a tad too bold, and not afraid to speak my mind—whether it's in the spa industry, on LinkedIn, or in a coffee shop chat with a complete stranger. And for those of you who follow me on LinkedIn, you probably already know that. You’ve seen me challenge the status quo, shake things up, and occasionally ruffle a few feathers. But guess what? That’s exactly why I’m here, doing something I never thought I’d do—writing my first blog.

You might be wondering, “What on earth possessed Rebecca Doyle to finally sit down and write this blog?” Well, here’s the thing: I’ve been asked countless times, especially after my more controversial posts, if I’d ever consider consulting. My response? Always a polite "No, I’m too busy" or "I’m not the expert you think I am." But after reflecting on what people have been telling me—and perhaps a few too many coffees and too little sleep—it hit me: Why not?

I spoke in front of over 2,000 people—definitely outside my comfort zone. As an introvert, being the center of attention isn't fun, and the moment's complexity increased my nerves. Despite the discomfort, I delivered my speech and made it through.

So, here I am, doing it.

Let’s rewind a little. I’ve spent over 30 years in the hospitality and wellness industry. Yes, I’ve been around long enough to know a thing or two about what works and, frankly, what doesn't. My career has taken me from the front desk at Fairmont Windsor Park to some of the most prestigious roles in the spa world. I've worked with brands, built teams, overseen million-pound budgets, and created customer experiences that genuinely make people feel special (we're talking five-star, five-star, five-star vibes here, people). But the one thing that always kept me grounded? My passion for sharing knowledge, empowering others, and, yes, occasionally kicking a bit of traditional thinking to the curb.

For years, I’ve been doing ad-hoc consultancy—helping spas improve their operations, create efficiencies, and drive profitability. It’s never been official. It’s always been on the side. A quick call here, a project there, but nothing formal. But I always loved it. And let’s be honest, after seeing what some spas are doing or not doing, I knew there was so much more I could help with. I’ve been called in to help businesses get their acts together, streamline their processes, or kick off their retail game—always in a temporary capacity. But this year, after much reflection (and a bit of prodding from friends and colleagues who think I have something worth sharing), I realised it’s time to make it official.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

Why consulting now?
I’m not new to consulting, but this time, I’m here to take things to a new level. I’ve always helped spas on a one-off basis, but this time, it’s going to be about building something sustainable. It’s about creating systems that drive long-term growth, profitability, and innovation. It’s not just about making a quick change—it’s about empowering businesses to thrive.

I’ve seen the gaps in the industry, and I’ve been in the trenches long enough to know exactly where things can be improved. So, why not formalise it, right? With my 35 years of experience, my passion for helping others, and my ability to spot areas of improvement, consulting feels like the natural next step.

I guess you could call me a bit of a disruptor.

Now, if you’ve been following me on LinkedIn, you probably already know that I’m an extrovert who thrives on new ideas and being vocal about what’s wrong and what’s right in the industry. I’m the one stirring things up with posts that sometimes make people raise an eyebrow or rethink their approach. I won’t lie, I’ve had my fair share of days when imposter syndrome hit me like a ton of bricks, or when I’d look at myself in the mirror and think, “I’m just not feeling it today” (those “fat days” we all get). But that’s part of the journey, isn’t it?

In fact, it’s only in the last year that I really started bartering my way into events, pushing myself to be present at every opportunity to learn and connect with others. And yes, those feelings of doubt crept in sometimes. But here’s the kicker: When you’re in my inner circle, you know I don’t have time for doubt. We go straight to the point, no fluff, no beating around the bush—it’s all about results, plain and simple.

So, back to the consultancy business...

I’m here to bring the innovation that the spa world desperately needs. My consultancy is not about offering a standard “here’s your checklist, now go and implement it” kind of advice. I’m about giving you the tools, the strategies, and the support to disrupt the status quo—whether you’re struggling with retail sales, need better team management, or just can’t seem to crack the code on how to make your spa more profitable. I get it, and I’m here to help you break through those barriers.

And if you’ve seen my LinkedIn posts—well, that’s just a taste of what’s to come. Sometimes a little close to the bone, sometimes a little cheeky, but always honest. I’m not here for fluff. I’m here to talk business, and I’m here to help your spa business thrive.

I guess that’s it, then. This blog, my consultancy business—it’s all a reflection of who I am. I speak my mind, push for change, and want to see the spa and wellness industry thrive. And hey, if that involves writing a blog, consulting, and shaking up the status quo a little bit, then I'm all in.

So, here’s to the future—let’s make it boldsassy, and full of real results. I’ve got a lot to say, and I’m just getting started. Who’s coming along for the ride?
